  • Research the library and always ask questions!
    • How involved in event planning will librarians be?
    • Do librarians book their own presenters?
    • Does the library currently use or plan to use OneDesk?
    • Is collection development centralized?  
  • Have a story time ready to present!

Marketing-

  • Use market research such as checking out Teen Vogue to see what topics, fonts, visual layouts, and styles interest your target audience. 
  • Canva (Pro edition) now has accessibility tracking built in as well as Brand Kits and Layers for easier creation.

  • Have some basic songs, finger plays, and stories ready in case of emergency story time or interview!
  • Be sure you don't focus on one child during story time.  Sing to everyone1
  • Toddlers respond better to big books with few words per page, rhymes and singing, and LOTS of movement! Examples: Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs by Bryon Barton, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Teddy Bear Teddy Bear

Technology-

  • Learn all about Google Docs, Sheets, Slides- learn it all!
  • Unfortunately, Excel is still a thing.  Learn it.
  • Keep updated on social media apps.  
  • Find training to keep skills updated.  LinkedIn Learning is a good resource.
